It’s been almost exactly two years since I have written anything here. With everything that we have all been going through and after selling Charlie, nothing seemed pressing at the time. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t been thinking about it.

Mireille and I are about to enter our third winter living here on Grand Island in Western New York. We got here just before COVID became what it is, so we only got to look around a little before we were all pretty much on lockdown. While we had stayed in a great deal, especially before we were vaccinated, we have gotten to see our grandkids (pretty much the reason we landed here to start with).

Since we got our shots, we have been venturing out more and more. We explore our surroundings, go on drives, find cool places to walk, hike, ride our bikes, take picnics and find restaurants to try out.

We have realized that Grand Island/Buffalo/Western New York is an excellent place to be. Since Niagara Falls is bound to be on many people’s list of places to visit, I want to try and give some hints and spots that may not appear on most travelers’ radar but are still lots of fun and worth a look.

We are going to see where we go from here. I love to write and take pictures. We love to travel and go on road trips, and we have some planned before the end of the year. We love to eat, drink and be merry. We try to do a little of that almost every day. So perhaps this will be interesting; I will try to make it so.

For those of you who are here for travels-with-charlie, that content is all still here. You will find it under the menu heading “rv : t-w-c” in the menu. Everything is still here, and if you have any questions, you can always ping me.
